History should be taught to adults not children. Children can only memorize events, names, dates. They have very little emotional landscape with which to contextualize events. A few Saturdays ago I was able to revisit events I'd learned about as a kid, but it was so much different and real now that I'm older.
The website linked to the picture above looks at pictures that have changed the world ( better yet changed how we saw the world) and the history surrounding it. Fascinating.
